Kanako Miura Award

This is a travel support award established by the IEEE-RAS Technical Committee on Humanoid Robotics in recognition of Dr. Kanako Miura’s contributions to the field. The candidates of awardees are Ph.D. and master female students entering the field of robotics research.

Dr. Miura (1976-2013) worked at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), in Japan. Her expertise was in biomechanics, telecommunication, and human-like motion synthesis on humanoid robots. She continued her research in advanced biped locomotion at MIT. In 2013´s spring, she passed away in a tragic accident. The community was deeply saddened by this event. This award program was created to remember both her achievements and friendships.

RAS Travel Grant

The RAS Travel Grants, as part of the RAS Member Support Program, will provide additional funding to selected RAS student members to make travel to the conference more affordable.

Thanks to the generous support of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, applications for travel support up to 1000 USD are invited, to facilitate authors of accepted papers to travel to the conference. To be eligible, an applicant must be in one of the following two categories:

  1. Student members of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society with accepted papers.
  2. Members of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society with accepted papers, from developing countries as determined by the Developing Country Listing.

Important Dates

  • Application deadline: 30 September 2024
  • Notification of award: 15 October 2024

Application Process

To submit a RAS travel grant application, please visit the link below. To complete an application, an applicant will be asked to provide basic information about themselves and their accepted paper(s). Applications are reviewed on a competitive basis. To claim the travel grant – typically sufficient to cover flights and accommodation – recipients must provide proof of attendance (registration).
